Perhaps it is a traumatic experience, a death in your family, a diagnosis that scares you, depression or anxiety, or an accident that knocked you off your feet. Perhaps it is a divorce, a retirement, or just turning a special age. No matter what the cause, you have found yourself questioning the life you were living. Is that all there is? Are we meant for more than just working? Where can we play out the passion and purpose of our lives – and for that matter, what is the passion and purpose of my life?
Just like when someone dies, when a way of life dies we experience grief. We want things to ‘go back to normal’ but ‘normal’ either doesn’t exist or we now realize that it’s not enough. Somewhere you notice the deep realization that your life has diverged from what you thought were your values and purpose. It is wildly uncomfortable: something has happened that can no longer be assimilated into the framework that you have created for your life, you are virtually commanded to change your world-view.
There are many who try their best to ignore this wake-up call. They stick their fingers in their ears, get busy, and actively ignore their own feelings of discomfort and grief. But that is not you. You choose to heed this call and build a new life from the ashes. You are open to change, you are willing to grieve that which is lost, and you want to move forward discarding the old rules that no longer work for you and build a structure that allows you to shine and others to shine around you.
I support you in your quest to grow and learn. I am a compassionate witness to your experiences and your trauma. This is not therapy, this is a partnership. I hold your hand and help create a process for grieving what must be left behind, whether that is old relationships, health, the rules your parents set up for you, or even the prospect of a long and comfortable life. Together we determine a new structure under which you can comfortably live, accommodating what you know now to be true for you. Finally, we explore what is unique about you and what gifts you hold for the world as you create a life in line with your new reality. No matter how long you have left to live in this world, I support you in finding your passion and your true purpose; one that is as unique as you are.
I use a combination of grief therapy, ritual for releasing what no longer serves, and coaching and hypnotherapy for making meaning of the trauma or experiences that brought you here. We delve together into spiritual exploration and a deep discovery of you and, most importantly, your gifts and purpose. Finally, we move to the practical how-to’s to bring these into being in your life. I walk by your side through what is likely to be the most meaningful transitions of your life.
