Turning Pain Into Power

The Scientist and the Medium

Why This Course? Why Now?

This course was born from a discussion that I had with my friend and talented medium, Keisha Gallegos. In the process of completing my PhD, I had done some very empowering research into the unexpected gifts that com with having a traumatic childhood. I really wanted to get my research results out to help others, and after Keisha and I had one particular discussion, she wanted it too! So I asked her to write about that day and how she came to call me. She wrote:

I was invited by I was doing trauma work with a therapist, and during a particularly uncomfortable moment while processing something very difficult, I noticed I was dissociating (zoning out and mentally leaving my body). I told my therapist in exasperation “Uh oh, I’m dissociating again. When will I ever be able to stop doing that?” She looked at me very compassionately and said something I will never forget, “Keisha, your ability to dissociate is what makes you such a good medium.” I was completely dumbfounded. I only knew of dissociation as a coping mechanism for trauma, something that protected me when things were too awful as a kid. Was my therapist saying that dissociation had a positive side? How was this possible and why didn’t I know this was a thing?

I couldn’t stop thinking about what my therapist said. I called my friend, Kirsten, who was at the end of writing her dissertation on the connection between abuse/neglect in childhood and intuitive ability. I explained what had happened in my therapy session and she was not shocked. In fact, Kirsten said “Well, yes. Of course. Dissociating is a way of going to another world. I call it alter-associating, it’s gotten a bad rap. Wait, you didn’t know that?”

NO I DIDN’T KNOW THAT. Why was this such a big deal for me? Because I learned that the worst moments of my life left me with the ability to do the thing I love most in the world- connect intuitively to the spirit world. That well practiced ability to leave my body and go somewhere else when something was scary is the same mechanism that allows me to communicate with loved ones who have passed, or look at a client’s chakra system, or tune into someone’s energy. I had no idea.

The sense of comfort and gratitude I felt for this realization made such a positive impact on me and my healing. As Kirsten and I continued to discuss the link between abuse/neglect and intuition, we knew that we wanted to teach a class about this and bring it to all the sensitive, intuitive people. Your greatest pain is the origin of your greatest strength— your intuition.

Learning about this connection has given me new confidence in my abilities. So much so that I was able to rebrand myself from the title I was hiding behind, Certified Master Life Coach, to the more honest and accurate title of Intuitive Coach and Medium. I’ve finally been able to come out of the spiritual closet once and for all.”

Moreover, there is actual science behind this startling fact?

Class Schedule:

April 4: Embracing Your Intuition

This class is going to be awesome! In the first class, we'll introduce ourselves and then we'll jump right into the exciting stuff. Did you know that your brain is wired for telepathy and precognition? There is nothing “woo woo” about it. We'll discuss, what we wish we knew years ago, that paranormal experiences are really rather "normal" and are experienced across all cultures over throughout time. There is a growing scientific body of evidence that we can know things without knowing HOW we know. Keisha and Kirsten will share their own mystical experiences, and you will all get to chat with fellow classmates about your unexplainable intuitive moments. Let's do this!

April 11: Beyond Words -The Power of Your Right Brain

Today, we're going to get down with some science. But don’t worry, Kirsten will make it fun and easy to understand. We’ll learn about the parts of our brain that experience and navigate things outside of our conscious experience. We'll talk about how our left and right brains work together to communicate in different ways, and how they each bring us different kinds of information. Plus, we'll learn about body memories and the way that out spirit speaks to us (hint: it’s not with words)! We'll even get to do some breakout exercises. Get ready to explore the mystical world of our minds!

April 18: Unpacking The Coping Mechanisms Of Trauma

Hold onto your hats, folks, because we're diving into some deep stuff today! In this class, we're going to explore the association between mystical experiences and trauma. We'll learn how a developing mind can positively adapt to a life that includes neglect and abuse, and the impact that has on how you see yourself and your conscious experiences. We'll even discuss attachment styles and how they affect our interpersonal and personal safety. Get ready to delve deep into the psyche and come out with a deeper understanding and a newfound compassion for what you and others have been through and transcended.

April 25: The Art Of Tuning Out

Are you ready to learn about dissociation and how it's a specific response to trauma? We'll explore how normal dissociation is a part of everyday life and how it's used and even encouraged in spiritual circles for meditation. Plus, we'll delve into the fascinating world of alter-association, which is a process that shares a great deal with channeling and mediumship, and how it can be a healthy coping mechanism and an amazing talent. Then, get ready for a group exercise where we'll guide you to your happy place or help you create the person you want to be. Let's discover how alter-association may just be your superpower!

May 2: You Don’t Have To Be A Sponge

In this class, you will learn that being highly intuitive may have downfalls, but only when you are at its mercy. Extreme empathy is a choice, not your default setting. You will learn to embrace your intuition and understand how to use it intentionally to lean into what feels best You will also explore how alter-association can help you make decisions, not just for your safety, but to have a full and rich life. Together we will have some fun practicing alter-associative exercises to manifest your dreams.

May 9: Where Do We Go from Here?

Get ready for launch! In this class, we will wrap up everything we have learned and discuss how to use it to move into a fully intuitive life, honoring the trials that got you here to this place. Of course, you will have the opportunity to ask any remaining questions you may have. Plus, there will be a chance to participate in some fun intuitive exercises! Together we will deepen your understanding and have some meaningful conversations with your fellow classmates.
